Leslie Arnette "Tony" Burgess
Jr., age 52, beloved husband of 27 years to Terry Lynn Green Burgess, died
Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Burgess was born in Sumter, a son of Betty Lowder Burgess and the late
Leslie Arnette "Pee Wee" Burgess Sr. He worked for Frasier Tire Service as a
salesman for more than 27 years. He loved hunting and fishing and was a friend
to many who will sadly miss him. He was a member of Harmony Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one son, Brandon Lin Burgess of
Sumter; a brother, Timothy Burgess of Sumter; a special grandchild, Abigail
Pillsbury; mother-in-law, Judy McClam of Sumter; three brothers-in-law, Dean
Jones, Alex Green and his wife, Annette, and Derrick McClam and his wife,
Chassity; a sister-in-law, Wendy Evans and her husband, Michael; nieces and
nephews, Blane Burgess and his wife, Heather, Cory Burgess and his wife, Monica,
Travis Burgess and his wife, Lisa, April Evans, Mikie Evans, Heather Evans,
Bridget Bilton and her husband, Jason, Britney McElveen and her husband, Dean,
Jessie Green, Mariah McClam, Clay McClam and Dallen Jones; and numerous
great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Terry Scott; and a sister,
Darla R. Jones.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bullock Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Drew Choate officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen
Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Doug Allen, Mark Howard, Michael Knight, Ronnie Shue, Mike
Windham and Mike Wilfong.
Honorary pallbearers were Lennie Bolden, Charlie DeLoach, Charles Knight,
Gary Shue and Gary Wannamaker.
